                                                                            The 1st  Festival 2014

 

 

The 1st Aegean Arts International festival was co organised with Europe Direct of the Prefecture of Crete and took place 3-11 July 2014 . There were seven evenings of musical and theatre performances.The curtain was raised by Greece’s Internationally celebrated conductor, composer and pianist Vassilis Tsabropoulos.Further performances included Harmony Perdu-Alloy-Chamber music, Clio Theodoridi-Saxophone,Richard Taylor-guitar.Gogo Frangiadaki-story telling, Notis Mavroudis-Guita,George Tosikian,Gamal Hamish piano,Kostas Anastassopoulos Piano, Lou Duro-Book presentation, Magdalena Vosniak-Artwork,Katerina Papadaki-Artwork,Dora Kornilaki-Artwork,Sissi Skoulikari-Artwork,Chrisanthi Kounianaki-Artwork,Ellen Weijers-Artwork,Jill Mcmonagle-Artwork. 

There was a presentation and musical dialogue titled 'Modern Music and Medicine'  by cardiologist/composer Thanasis Dritsas.Visitors also enjoyed the book Presentation 'On the road to here' by the Cretan based American writer, Lou Duro.

Further events included nine exhibitions of artwork and crafts and twelve traditional handicraft workshops held at the Handicraft Park of Anopolis (Glass Blowing. Olive Wood carving. Traditional cloth weaving. Ceramic Pots. Bronze moulding. Wooden  furniture making.Cretan knives. Ceramic  museum replicas. Colbalt/Gold  design, Hand painted icons and Greek worry beads.)

 

 

The 2nd Festival 2015

The 2nd festival took place 4-12 July 2015 with performances by a total of 22 artists from 11 different countries in order of appearance Jonathan Ware-piano,Ben Baker-Violin,Jannis Georgiadis-violin and masterclass,Micheal Heupel-cello,Nefeli Mousoura-piano,Marianna and Stephanie Kapsetaki-piano,Manos Kitsikopoulos-piano,Stephan Savage-piano and masterclass,George Andreou-Composer,Korina Legaki-song concert,Hyuk Namkoong-piano,ΣΩΜΑ ΩΖ theatre group,BotisThalassinos-Artwork,Christos Kornarakis-Artwork,Aretousa Geronimaki-Artwork,Georgia Sfakianaki-Artwork,Marion Pruijn-Artwork,Nikos Roditakis-Photography,

The 3rd Festival 2016

The 3rd festival took place  4-12 July 2016 with performances of 45 artists from 12 different countries in order of appearance Martinos Tirimos,Atsuko Kawakami,Stephanie Kapsetaki,Marianna Kapsetaki,Alexander Ullman,Stephen Savage, Jan Hugo,Ellie Tsampa, Eleni Papaspirou and Alexandros Sarakenides.George Liakakis,Micheal Petrov,Kostas Makakis,Manolis Tzanakis, Clara Bleton, Eleni Dimopoulou. ENA- Athens Youth chamber ensemble,Amit Dubester,Pauline Rougier,Melinda Urh,Kleio Theodoridou.Composer- Dimitris Maramis and the Symphony Orchestra of the Music School of Heraklion conducted by Michalis Dialinas.  Artwork was exhibited throughout the duration of the festival by the following artists and schools -Kazamiaki Stella, Mauro Russo​, Eleni Phyla​, Mandalena Vosniak-Melissourgaki, Dora Kornilaki, Gaynor Vlastou, Anastasia Damianaki, Ellen Wiejers, Jill McMonagle, Eleni Goumara, Georgia Sfakianaki, the Art School of Heraklion, Episkopi Primary Secondary and Lyceum, the Nursery and primary schools of Elia, Kokkini Hani primary school, Skourokefali primary school and the Zanneio school, Heraklion.

The 4th festival took place 4-12th July 2017 with performances of 44 artists from 10 different countries in order of appearance - George Andreou, George Kazantzis, Korina Legaki, Manos Kitsikopoulos, Dr Hara Trouli, Petar Dimov, Charlotte Schoeters, Lysienne Chen Ozlem Celik,Can Okan,Despoina,Skandalaki,Kallia Papadaki, Karolina Pancernaite, Mark Viner,George Petrou,Marianna Kapsetakis, Athens Youth Chamber Ensemble(ENA),Lily Daka,Dr Ioannis Potamousis,Jannis Georgiadis,Myrto Georgiadou,Theano Sakalidou,Dimitris Maramis,Eleni Dimopoulou,Mela Gerofoti and Thodoris Voutsikakis. Apart from the nine evening performances, there were two piano seminars given by Mark Viner and Dr Ioannis Potamousis.  The children's art exhibition 'Colours of Love' took place throughout the duration of the festival, with hundreds of applications in the 1st Aegean children's Art Competition with the theme' Colours of Love'-Τα χρώματα της Αγάπης'..The judges selected a total of 44 prizes winners.

            The 5th Festival 2018

The 5th festival took place 4-12th July 2018 with performances by 52 artists from 14 different countries  in order of appearance- Ching-Wen Hsiao,Konstantinos Valianatos, Leona Crasi,Waimay Yau,Simone Tavoni,Riyad Nicolaos,Stelios Viskadourakis,Aesthesia Saxophone Quartet,Manos Charalambopoulos,Jacques Speigelstein,Antonis Tolakis,Angelos Kovotsos,Benjamin Baker,Daniel Ledhardt,Manu Brazu,Prajna Indrawati,Quadro Armonico (Jannis Georgiadis,Nikos Pylarinos,Ilias Sdoukos,Asterios Pouftis),the Kapsetaki Twins,Jaymee Coonjobeeharry,Frederic Bager,Thanasis Dritsas,Greek Youth Chamber Ensemble-ENA,George Petrou ,George Kayialikos,Mika Kakaki,Ifigeneia Korologou,Eftichia Mitritsa, Dionisis Vervitsiotis and Giovanna (Ιωαννα Καλπαξή) . Apart from the nine evening performances there was a flute seminar presented by Jaymee Coonjobeeharry and a tour of the Byzantine churches of Episkopi by archaeologist George Katsalis.  The children's international Art exhibition 'Love Nature' took place throughout the duration of the festival, with almost 1000 entries from all over the world.The panel of judges selected a total of 51 prizes winners. We were also delighted to receive generous support for the first time from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation as well as the Greek Arts Council to which we are very grateful.

The 6th Festival 2019

The 6th Aegean Arts International festival took place between 4-12th July in Episkopi as well as in Archanes, with a total of 51 artists performing from 11 different countries.  Over 1100 children sent artwork entries to the competition "Freedom', of which the panel of judges selected 82 prize winners.  There were nine evenings of classical concerts, two Rising Stars concerts, a film evening, science talks, two piano seminars (Dr. Ioannis Potamousis and Jun Sun), and a bassoon workshop ( Mavroudes Troullos). The Women's Association of Episkopi- ERGANI presented a traditional cookery workshop and there was a children's activity day held at the museum. Artists and scientists who took part in the 2019 main theatre event (in order of appearance) were- George Galanis and the Piraeus Symphony Orchestra of the Friends of Pireaus society, Giannis Georgiadis, Maria Goutou, Zisimos Soulkoukis, Marianna Kapsetaki, Giannis Anagnostopoulos, Takis Sakellariou,Luke Hsu, Yehuda Inbar, Maya Soltan, Oksana Sliubyk, Mavroudes Troullos, Alexander Sarakenides, Dr. Athena Aktipis,Jun Sun, Yun Wei, Dr. Efthymios Papatzikis, Krzysztof Moskalewicz, Dr. Giannis Kugiumutzakis, Timur Urmancheyev, Erzhan Kulibaev, Dr Archilleas Gravanis, Adam Heron, Dr. Dimitrios Pandermalis.
